Ancestor Stories

Bollman - Groff - Livingston - Wyrick

Betty Edwards beedward@iguana.ruralnet.net sends a "brickwall".

" Andrew LIVINGSTON b. 1730? Died 1799? married Elizabeth GROFF,
had sons Christian?, David and Samuel ( my ancestor). These people
apparently started in Lancaster County PA, went to Frederick Cty, MD, and
then to Bedford Cty, PA. Andrew apparently owned several pieces of land in
Bedford County, although some deeds seem to show Andrew Leviston, or
Levingston, including land at Yellow Creek. Samuel may have been born in
Bedford Cty, in 1766? And died there November 6, 1842. He was married to Catherine
Wyrick, and Sarah Bollman. David married Anna Mishler in Bedford County,
died at Faustwell, Somerset Cty, PA. David served in the Revolutionary War. I
read someplace of a statue of him in Bedford ( Hopewell) and a plaque on a
site of his mill. There is a deed showing the sale of land by Andrew to
David and Samuel Livingston.

I am desperately seeking documentation for these people, especially
Samuel's birth and death records. No family researcher that I have been in
contact with has any evidence of the relationship of these people, nor
documentation. Secondary goal to find origination of Andrew Livingston.

I would also like to find where the records of the Yellow Creek Cemetery
assn, St Paul's reformed church may be, or how to access them.

Barnhart - Herman - Karns

Melanie at krause@lek.net writes :

"I have a new brick wall. I have pieced together that my gggrandfather
Abraham Herman married Catherine Barnhart, a widow, around 1853
(guessing date by census records and age of children). I have had no
success in finding out Catherine's maiden name. I checked orphan and
widow records. I also checked funeral records for his son, Franklin
Herman which gives a totally different name for his mother (an Olive
Karns). However a newspaper article when Franklin was business man of
the week lists Catherine and Abraham as his parents.

The 1860 Bedford Township Census lists the family as:
Abraham Herman 56 M W
Catherine A. Herman 38 F W
Mary F Barnhart 14 F W
Eliza M. Barnhart 11 F W
Susan Herman 7 F W
Samuel 5 M W
Fanklin H. 2 M W

Anyone researching the same line have any info or ideas where to look
next?"

Thanks,
Melanie
